60% Rule
5/12/2005

Investing 60% of your time on a project does not guarantee its success, but investing less than 60% of your time in a project (or managing someone who does) guarantees its mediocrity. Notice I didn’t say failure. You can seem to be successful in many things at the same time, as other people see you. Each project that receives less than 60% of your time, will be only mediocre compared to what it could be if you would focus on it. What should be your 60% focus? What should be the 60% focus of each of your staff members?
